Entertainment for Retirement Villages

We’ll bring our professional musical entertainment to your Retirement Village (aka Lifestyle Village or Retirement Community) in Adelaide or throughout South Australia. As every community has unique needs we have created three distinct packages to suit your tastes, space and budget. Prices listed are for villages within the Adelaide Metropolitan area – for villages outside this area we may need to charge extra for travel.

PACKAGE 1 – Adelaide String Duo OR Two Hearts Duo

1 hour concert, $550*

Adelaide String Duo is a traditional yet quirky violin & cello duo, playing repertoire from classical to pop to polka. You can see more information (including videos) on the Adelaide String Duo website.

Two Hearts Duo is the world’s only Keyboard, Cello & Vocal duo, playing an enormous range of songs and styles from The Beatles to Billy Joel, Gershwin to Greenday, Elvis to Elton and much more. PACKAGE 2 – Classics & Pop

Adelaide String Duo & Two Hearts Duo

2 hour concert with interval, $880*

A great package with something for everyone. Starting with the grace and beauty of the classical strings in the first half, then a short interval allows Jacqui & Brenton to transform into Two Hearts Duo for the second half. Two Hearts is piano-bar act with a difference performing all your favourite singable tunes from pop, jazz and musical theatre.

PACKAGE 3 – String Fever

90 minute theatre-style show with or without interval, $2420*
Includes full sound and light production with technician

String Fever is a multi-award winning, unique, high-energy music and comedy variety act. Think The Four Kinsmen meet Andre Rieu with a touch of Lucy & Desi. Frequently asked questions

1. Do we need to provide a microphone?

No, we bring in any sound support we need for each combination. The Adelaide String Duo is generally completely unamplified, unless your venue is enormous. The strings sound a lot better unamplified, and you’ll be amazed at how well the sound carries.

2. How much space do you need?

Adelaide String Duo: 1.8 x 2.4m
Two Hearts Duo (including ‘Classics & Pop’): 2.2 x 3.5m
String Fever: 4x6m “stage size” plus additional space at the back of the hall for a sound-engineer table and spotlights. We’ll discuss the details on booking. We’ve found most Village halls are fine, but it’s important the committee works with us regarding the room set-up.

3. Will you help us sell tickets?

We provide a customized PDF poster for you to print to publicize the event. If you don’t have easy access to a colour printer, we recommend Officeworks. You can also create excitement by directing your fellow residents to our website/s.

4. When will you arrive to set up? 

Each package is different. For the Adelaide String Duo we will be on site no later than 30 minutes before show-time. Two Hearts Duo (including ‘Classics & Pop’) no later than 45 minutes before show-time. String Fever around 4 hours before show-time.

5. Do we need to pay a deposit?

We ask for a $220* non-refundable deposit for Packages 1 & 2 and $990* for Package 3. Obviously if there’s a statewide Covid (or other) emergency we will work with you to defer our performance to another date.

6. Do you take requests?

With the Adelaide String Duo and Two Hearts Duo we prepare playlists of songs (sets) in advance to create a good mix of musical styles, tempos and moods to assure that the whole audience has a good experience. If a person makes a request during the show and we can play it we often will, although we have found that playing too many requests is not a good formula for providing the best entertainment for all.

String Fever is a fully scripted show and there is no possibility of requests.

7. I’m confused – are the Adelaide String Duo, Two Hearts Duo and String Fever all performed by the same two people?

Yes, we’re very versatile! We have had a wealth of professional experience performing in all of these different modes. It’s a long story, but if you’ve got 10 minutes you can read a short version on the website called Adelaide Musicians.

What about lighting?

We can add a small lighting rig (spotlight/s and programmed coloured lights) to Packages 1 or 2 for an extra $165*. It’s not essential, but it will change the mood of your function room from a meeting-place to a show place.
