All String Fever performances cover a wide range of musical styles – from Bluegrass to Broadway to Bolero!  However, String Fever is not about the music we play, but “what we do with it”.  We’ve created over two hours worth of unique music and comedy routines, using well known songs and tunes as our starting point.

We enjoy tailoring our shows for each individual client and function.  To get you started, here’s a typical 30 minute show which was designed for a Corporate Event:

The Devil Went Down to Tasmania – our take on the Charlie Daniels country classic
The Bullfight – an energetic blend of Spanish music with narration, choreography and audience participation
Dueling Fever – this version of Dueling Banjos is our entertainment “calling card” – wife vs husband, cello vs violin; amazing trick fiddling!
Elton John tribute (self explanatory)
Sinfonia d’ABBA – you’ll have to pay your guests to stop them from singing along!!
William Tell Overture – the strings light up for the finale (literally…)

Yes, definitely. If your song is not in our repertoire we require at least 2 weeks notice to create (and learn) an arrangement suitable for use in our show.

 

String Fever is a very versatile entity, and we aim to please! Our only absolute requirement of a venue is a minimum clear stage/performance space of 2.4 x 3.6 m. Its impossible for us to perform in a space smaller than this.   Call or email us to discuss your needs in terms of production.

 

Absolutely! For 95% of our performances at Corporate or Private functions we use studio produced backing tracks.

 

No, no, no, please … NO :) !!! Here's why – typically you'll be paying big money for the meal at your function. If we perform while your guests are eating, one of two things will happen – (a) they'll be engrossed with us and miss their wonderful meal OR (b) they'll be engrossed with their meal and miss us! Please don't make us compete with the food, there's room for everyone… In our experience, the best time for a feature entertainer (if the function has a meal) is either between dinner and dessert (for a 30 to 40 minute show) or between entrée and dinner (for short shows only – ie. 15 to 20 minutes).

We have a small PA suitable for functions of 150 people or less, within driving distance from Melbourne. For larger functions, or where we need to fly, you or your venue will need to provide appropriate technical support (we’re happy to organize this for you if you’d prefer for functions with Australia).

 

Well ….. ok ….. BUT …. in feature entertainment, often less is more. As explained under “What is a feature act?" our show (like a Magician or Comedian) requires a fully attentive audience to be effective. We will strive to create an amazing and magical experience for your guests, which will include assessing the optimum length of our performance. (Don’t worry, we always have plenty of encores up our sleeve, so if your guests are screaming for more by the end of our show, we’ll give it to them – very happily!!)

 

No - our fees are not governed by the length of time we’re on stage (see FAQ above).

 

Like most entertainers, we quote individually for every situation. Corporate dinners, private birthday celebrations, charity events, theatre or festival appearances all attract different fees and have differing technical and logistical considerations. We also charge more for New Year’s Eve!!! (sorry - while I was on an honesty roll I couldn’t stop that from slipping out … )
