String Fever – personal history

Brenton and Jacqui first met in Adelaide, South Australia.  Although they now live in Melbourne,  they’ve spent the last ten years living in Sydney (although the rigours of cruise ship entertainment has meant they spent precious little time there).  Brenton also lived in Perth, Western Australia for three months – so the couple have been described as gypsies!

Before becoming entertainers as such, Brenton and Jacqueline (Jacqui) Edgecombe were classical musicians.  They first met in the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and also worked together in the Adelaide Chamber Orchestra.  Between them they have also played in many other of Australia’s leading Symphony Orchestras – Sydney Symphony Orhcestra, Sydney Opera House Orchestra, West Australia Symphony Orchestra (based in Perth), Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (based in Hobart).  They also backed great entertainers like Ray Charles, Meatloaf, John Farnham, Anthony Warlow and Olivia Newton John.

Their move from straight music to entertainment has been satisfying both personally and professionally.  Their new move from the constant travel of entertaining onboard cruise ships (eight years and counting!) to Austalian based entertainment is also very exciting.

String Fever were a well known name in club entertainment in Sydney through the late nineties and up to this point.  They also star in a live Entertainment Spectacular called “Great Fiddles of Fire” with String Fever and Friends.  This amazing show also guest stars corporate magician Steve Hart and singer Paula Watt whose talents are often called upon for weddings, corporate events and private functions.  Although great entertainers in their own right, Steve and Paula add a touch of class to String Fever’s venture.

Although both Brenton and Jacqui loved their years as club entertainers and as cruise ship entertainers, the move to corporate entertainment is one that they both feel will be sound, given the current climate.  They are also looking forward to the new challenges that these entertainment arenas will hold.
